Patent Tribunal Revives Yamaha Motorcycle Fall Tech Application

Yamaha convinced an administrative patent board to reverse an examiner’s rejection of claims related to a patent application for a device that can send radio signals when a motorcycle is overturned and inform the rider that it’s calling for help.

Yamaha’s patent application No. 16/592,852 differs from prior art because the device transmits a radio signal based on the vehicle overturning and then generates a light based on the fact that the first action has been, or is about to be, performed, the tribunal said.
