Patent Suit Over GM Camera Tech Should be Dismissed, Judge Says

A complaint against General Motors from a patent owner who said the automaker incorporated its technology into surround view monitoring systems should be dismissed, a magistrate judge recommended.

VDPP LLC said it patented technology that applies the visual effect of three dimensions to a 2D image and sued GM for direct, willful, and indirect infringement, according to court documents from the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. The product, GM’s HD Surround Vision System, “gives drivers a bird’s-eye view of the area surrounding a vehicle,” the documents said.
