Patent Owner Sues Intel, AMD Over Cluster-Computing Technology

An Orange County, California, patent owner sued Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc., accusing the semiconductor companies of infringing five cluster-computing patents.

Advanced Cluster Systems Inc. sued the tech titans Thursday in federal court in Midland, Texas, a single-judge division of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas that’s recently become a hub for patent lawsuits.

The lawsuits each describe patents “directed to an advanced, parallel mesh computing framework that makes supercomputing performance available to mainstream software.” Each suit also alleges infringement of US Patent No. 10,333,768, which was asserted in a 2019 suit ...
