The US Patent and Trademark Office will launch a new Cancer Moonshot Expedited Examination Pilot Program on Feb. 1, according to the office Thursday.

The program, which will expedite the examination of patent applications for technologies that prevent cancer and cancer mortality, is scheduled to run through Jan. 31, 2025, unless 1,000 grantable petitions are accepted before then, the USPTO said.

The program replaces the Cancer Immunotherapy Pilot Program, according to the patent office.
