Pantech $10 Million Patent Win Wiped Out for New Damages Trial

A Texas federal judge ordered a new trial for damages after calling South Korea-based Pantech Corp.'s $10 million win excessive in a patent infringement suit against Chinese phone manufacturer OnePlus.

The jury’s March verdict was more than seven times the amount suggested by Pantech’s expert and three times the amount its counsel sought during the trial, according to an Aug. 14 order initially filed under seal and made public Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
