Pandora Scores Win in Long-Running Turtles Copyright Dispute

A federal judge in California ruled for Pandora Media LLC in a nearly decade-long copyright battle with the 1960s rock band The Turtles over the music streaming service’s creation of permanent and temporary copies of their songs.

Flo & Eddie Inc. was created by two The Turtles co-founders and owns the rights to the band’s music, including the hit song “Happy Together.” Its 2014 lawsuit against Pandora is “the last case standing” in a string of copyright litigation it brought against other internet- and satellite-radio services like Sirius XM Radio Inc., Judge Philip S.
