Pac-12 Schools’ Lawsuit Over Unlicensed Sports Apparel Proceeds

The universities in the Pac-12 athletic conference may proceed with trademark infringement claims against Sportswear Inc.—known also as Prep Sportswear and Vintage Brand LLC—after the Eastern District of Washington found sufficient allegations that the companies sold knockoffs of branded apparel.

It’s enough that the schools’ complaint identifies many of their marks, provides examples of how some of them are used on merchandise, and includes screenshots of the allegedly infringing marks, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington ruled Thursday, denying the companies’ motion to dismiss.
