Ozy Media Ends Lawsuit Against Semafor After NY Fraud Conviction

Ozy Media Inc. ended its lawsuit claiming journalist Ben Smith used trade secrets to create and launch the global news platform Semafor Inc.

Judge Frederic Block of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York dismissed of Ozy’s lawsuit in a docket entry Wednesday, a day after the company filed its notice of voluntary dismissal. The parties were set to meet Thursday for a conference after Semafor and Smith’s legal team alerted the court last month to its own expected motions to dismiss Ozy’s second amended complaint.
