Ousted Copyright Head Asks to Judge to Reinstate Her for Good

Fired Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter asked a federal judge to restore her to her post for good while her appeal of his denial of temporary relief remains pending.

Perlmutter’s motion for summary judgment filed Monday reprises her arguments that President Donald Trump lacked the authority to fire her or appoint her boss’ replacement. Trump-appointed Judge Timothy J. Kelly has rejected three different bids for temporary reinstatement featuring similar arguments, with her appeal of one of those denials pending.
