Ousted Copyright Chief Again Denied Reinstatement as She Appeals

A federal judge denied Shira Perlmutter’s bid to be restored as head of the US Copyright Office while she appeals his earlier denial, finding she repeated arguments he already rejected twice.

Perlmutter, who argues President Donald Trump illegally fired her in May, again failed to establish she’d suffer irreparable harm absent an injunction, US District Judge Timothy J. Kelly ruled in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. He previously found claims of damage to the institution speculative and inapplicable to the question of harm to Perlmutter herself, a core requirement for an injunction.
