Finnish wearable-technology startup Oura Health Oy sued Circular SAS alleging its forthcoming smart ring and corresponding mobile application infringe two patents for the third-generation Oura ring and its app, which gather and analyze a range of the wearer’s metrics.
Oura seeks an order blocking US sales of Circular’s ring and app, and damages for any infringing sales, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
“Our goal is to achieve innovation for the greater good and a monopoly situation has never driven innovation,” Circular said in a statement.
