OpenAI Wins Trademark Injunction Against ‘open.ai’ Domain Owner

Artificial intelligence company OpenAI Inc. secured an injunction barring a man and his company from using the “Open AI” trademark it applied to register the day after OpenAI’s launch announcement nearly a decade ago.

Guy Ravine applied for the trademark in December 2015, but evidence doesn’t indicate the mark was used in commerce before OpenAI used its nearly-identical mark, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.
