OpenAI to Spend $50 Billion on Computing in 2026, Brockman Says

OpenAI expects to spend $50 billion on computing power this year to support its artificial intelligence software, according to co-founder and President Greg Brockman.

Brockman said Tuesday that the ChatGPT maker’s computing costs have surged from roughly $30 million in 2017 to tens of billions of dollars this year as the company develops more advanced AI models and serves them to a wider audience. He made the remarks during his second day testifying in OpenAI’s closely watched courtroom battle with Elon Musk.
