OpenAI Temporary Ban on ‘Cameo’ Branding Extended in IP Suit (1)

A California federal judge extended an order temporarily blocking OpenAI Inc. from using the “Cameo” name for a feature in its Sora AI-video generator while she decides whether a longer-term injunction is appropriate.

Judge Eumi K. Lee extended the current temporary restraining order by 45 days during a Friday hearing in personalized-video service Cameo’s trademark-infringement lawsuit against the AI developer. The order requires OpenAI to stop using the “cameo” mark and confusing variations of the name for any Sora functionality.
