OpenAI Moves to Pause Disclosure of Attorney Messages in IP Suit

OpenAI Inc. urged a magistrate judge to halt a recent order requiring the company to turn over all in-house attorney communications about its deletion of data from a pirate library as part of authors’ and new publishers’ copyright infringement lawsuits.

OpenAI’s privilege will be “eviscerated” if the company shares the documents and the district judge overseeing the case later reverses the decision, it said in a request for stay filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
