The country’s oldest and largest organization representing writers and authors sued OpenAI LP for copyright infringement, alleging that the company’s large language models engage in “systematic theft on a mass scale.”
The Authors Guild, which has been at the center of other precedent-setting copyright cases against the tech industry, filed the proposed class action in Manhattan federal court alongside more than a dozen well-known authors such as George R.R. Martin and John Grisham.
