Open Text Sues Forcepoint for Lost Profits on Cybersecurity Tech

Open Text Corp.’s Webroot unit filed a lawsuit seeking profits lost to sales of at least eight Forcepoint LLC security products and services it alleges infringe five patents related to features that improve traditional anti-malware and network security systems.

Austin, Texas-based Open Text and Webroot own more than 70 patents related to various security technologies, including malware detection that reduces or eliminates “the shortcomings that plagued signature-based endpoint security products that relied on human analysts,” according to a 98-page complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
