Online Tennis Retailer Asserts Rights to ‘Tennis Point’ Name

Online tennis equipment retailer Midwest Sports Supply LLC’s use of the Tennis Point name doesn’t violate the trademark rights of a company that sells software for organizing tennis leagues under the name Tennispoint, Midwest said in a suit filed in the Southern District of Ohio.

Midwest has the authority to use the Tennis-Point and Tennis Point trademarks because the company that acquired its majority ownership, SIGNA Sports Unlimited GmbH, previously acquired majority ownership of Tennis-Point GmbH, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
