Online retailer Temu allegedly violated copyright law by selling a contemporary artist’s copyrighted designs on apparel without permission, the artist’s lawsuit alleges.
Zhihan Wang, a citizen of China who is a permanent resident of the United States, filed a complaint against agents of Temu, PDD Holdings Inc. and WhaleCo Inc., in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Monday. WhaleCo is based in Delaware and PDD is based in the Cayman Islands. Wang said the court has personal jurisdiction over the defendants because Temu conducts systematic business in Illinois and gets substantial revenue from Illinois residents. ...
