Ecobee Technologies ULC got Ollnova Technologies Ltd.’s $11.5 million patent win concerning a building automation system overturned after the Federal Circuit ruled Thursday that the Texas federal jury’s verdict form was flawed.
The verdict form the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas jury used in the 2023 trial improperly combined all asserted patents into a single question about whether ecobee infringed, without specifying the individual patent claims, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said.
