Okta Hit With Authentication Patent Suit by Inventor’s Company

Multifactor-authentication company Okta Inc. was accused of infringing two identity-verification patents issued to a prolific New York inventor in a federal lawsuit.

Fraud Free Transactions LLC, a company founded by Michael Sasha John, said the Okta Verify tool and several other systems use methods covered by US Patent Nos. 12,093,950 and 11,551,215, according to the complaint filed Monday in US District Court for the District of Delaware.

The patents, which cover methods of fraud deterrence for secure transactions, were recently issued to John and are part of a larger family of patents the inventor started applying for in 2007, ...
