NYT Demands OpenAI Admit Which Articles It Used in AI Training

New York Times Co. asked a federal judge to order OpenAI Inc. to identify and admit all the newspapers’ articles the tech company used to train its family of AI models as part of the copyright infringement lawsuit against the company.

Although the Times has already identified millions of articles while inspecting OpenAI’s training data during discovery, the process has been “time consuming, burdensome, and hugely expensive,” the news plaintiffs said in a letter filed Nov. 2 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
