NY Unveils Draft Restrictions on Algorithmic Social Media Feeds

Tech companies will have significant leeway in New York to implement the state’s first-in-the-nation measure to restrict algorithmic social media feeds and overnight alerts under draft regulations Democratic Attorney General Letitia James released Monday.

Platforms will need parents’ permission to use algorithmic feeds to present content to underage users or send notifications to them from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. under the law.
