NuVasive Infringes Surgeon’s Spinal-Screw Patents, Jury Says (2)

NuVasive Inc.'s screw products infringe five of a surgeon and inventor’s spinal-implant patents, a Delaware federal jury said, leaving the question of damages for a separate proceeding.

Screw assemblies from NuVasive’s Reline, Armada, and VuePoint lines infringe combinations of Roger P. Jackson’s US Patent Nos. 8,353,932, 8,696,711, 10,335,200, 10,722,273, and 11,051,856, according a verdict issued Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

Jurors rejected NuVasive’s arguments for invalidating the infringed patents, which cover spinal screws and inserts designed to help surgeons align and lock rods in place during back-stabilization procedures. They ...
