Nokia Pushes to Dismiss Most of Amazon’s Cloud-Patent Claims

Nine of the 12 computer-networking patents that Amazon.com Inc. asserts in a case over cloud-computing technology are invalid because they cover abstract ideas, Nokia Oyj told a Delaware federal court.

The nine patents Nokia wants canceled “amount to nothing more than basic cloud computing and networking concepts and fail to disclose any “inventive concepts” that would rescue them from ineligibility” for patenting, according to Nokia’s brief supporting its motion to dismiss filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
