Nokia, Lenovo Settle Patent Fight With New Licensing Deal

Financial terms of the new cross-licensing agreement weren’t disclosed but “Lenovo will make a net balancing payment to Nokia,” the companies said in a joint statement.

  • The agreement was described as “multi-year, multi-technology” and resolves all litigation between the two, including suits in Germany, the U.S., Brazil and India
    • In Germany, Nokia had won an order last year that banned Lenovo from selling anything using Nokia video-compression technology
    • A U.S. International Trade Commission case in which Nokia was seeking to block imports of Lenovo computers into the U.S. had been scheduled for trial in June
