Nike Defeats Bid to Ban ‘Total 90’ Name in Soccer Trademark Suit

Nike Inc. defeated a bid to block its use of the “Total 90” branding for soccer gear while a trademark infringement lawsuit brought by youth soccer league and retailer Total90 LLC moves forward.

Chief Judge Wendy B. Vitter issued an oral order Monday denying Total90’s motion for a preliminary injunction during a status conference, and said a separate order explaining her reasoning will follow.

Louisiana-based Total90 sued Nike in November 2025 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, accusing the company of trademark infringement by releasing a line of “Total 90" shoes earlier the same year. ...
