Nike Accused of Infringing ‘Cool Compression’ Trademarks

Athletic apparel manufacturer Lontex Inc. accuses Nike Inc. of trademark infringement in a lawsuit filed Dec. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Lontex holds trademarks for “Cool Compression,” a line of athletic clothing it says is popular with collegiate and professional athletes. It accuses Nike of selling its own, confusingly similar “Cool Compression” apparel thorough retailers like Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Foot Locker.

Lontex estimates that Nike has made well over $40 million in profits on the allegedly infringing products. It is suing Nike for trademark infringement and unfair competition. ...
