Nielsen Loses Patent Trial Over Audience-Measurement Tech (1)

A Delaware federal jury found TVision Insights Inc. didn’t infringe a Nielsen Holdings Ltd. subsidiary’s patent claim covering technology for creating digital signatures used to identify audio content.

TVision didn’t infringe claim 8 of Nielsen Co. (US) LLC’s US Patent No. 7,783,889, jurors said, though they rejected TVision’s challenges to its validity. The verdict was issued Thursday and docketed Friday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

“The jury’s verdict confirms what we have always believed: the technology at issue simply does not infringe Nielsen’s patent,” TVision CEO Yan Liu said in a statement.
