The Houston Texans professional football team told a federal judge TicketMatrix LLC’s protected method for ticketing systems isn’t patent eligible and its lawsuit should be tossed out.
US Patent No. 7,831,452 concerns an abstract idea for activities humans can perform, Houston NFL Holdings LP said in a motion to dismiss filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Keeping a season ticket waitlist and selling the tickets to fans is “a task handled by humans for decades,” the team said.
