The Kansas City Chiefs franchise told a Texas federal judge a ticket systems technology it’s accused of infringing isn’t eligible for patent protection.
TicketMatrix LLC’s US Patent 7,831,452 is an abstract idea relating to a well-known concept in finance, sports, and gambling fields for organizing human activity, the NFL team argued in a brief filed along with a motion to dismiss Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The patent owner’s allegations concerning season ticket systems are “nonsensical and difficult to parse,” the Chiefs said.
