Nexstar Media Inc. and The CW Network LLC were accused of incorporating protected streaming-media technology into the broadcast channel’s mobile app and streaming website without permission from the patent holder in a Texas lawsuit.
MusicQubed Innovations LLC alleged the media company and The CW—which is 75% owned by Nexstar—infringed seven patents related to improving the function and operation of digital streaming systems and improving the process to upgrade those systems without interrupting data delivery, according to a complaint filed Nov. 7 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
