Newman Urges DC Circuit to Unseal Documents From Judicial Probe

Pauline Newman, the 97-year-old Federal Circuit judge, accused her colleagues of impermissibly keeping documents out of the public eye as she challenges the constitutionality of her suspension from hearing new cases.

Newman urged the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where she is appealing the dismissal of her lawsuit seeking reinstatement, to unseal four filings contained in a supplemental appendix and that were part of administrative proceedings carried out by the Federal Circuit’s Judicial Council, including a December 2024 gag order issued by the special committee that investigated Newman’s mental fitness.
