New York University Sues ResMed Over Sleep-Disorder Tech Patents

New York University said ResMed’s AirSense 10 AuoSet series of positive airway pressure machines, used to treat sleeping disorders by providing air pressure to a patient’s airways, infringes seven patents for the technology.

  • NYU is seeking cash compensation for ResMed’s alleged infringement and unjust enrichment, according to complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Patents expire in August and September 2023, March 2024, January 2031 and February 2035, complaint says
  • Patents are owned by NYU and name two co-inventors, including Dr. David M. Rapoport, “the foremost expert in sleep technology” and director of Mount Sinai’s Sleep Medicine ...
