New York Times Wins Bid for OpenAI President’s Diary in IP Suit

A federal judge ordered OpenAI Inc. to hand over portions of its president’s journal to newspapers and authors accusing the tech giant of copyright infringement.

Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang also instructed OpenAI to produce 88 million output logs that were generated before the artificial intelligence company implemented a filter to block regurgitation of protected books and news articles. The short Monday order in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Wang will issue a later opinion with more details about her reasoning.
