The New England Patriots beat a patent monetization firm’s allegations that the NFL team infringed by creating a system to support video and data communication for handheld devices in the stadium.
Arena IP LLC’s US Patent No. 8,320,820 covers an abstract idea and doesn’t convey an inventive concept, US District Judge Myong J. Joun said in a memorandum filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, finding the invention ineligible for patent protection and dismissing the lawsuit.
