Netlist Bid to Block Samsung Memory Google Used Gets ITC Probe

The US International Trade Commission launched an investigation based on a patent-infringement complaint Netlist Inc. filed against Samsung Electronics Co., Alphabet Inc.’s Google LLC, and Super Micro Computer Inc. over computer memory technology.

The ITC will examine whether imports of Samsung-made devices and products that incorporate them infringe six patents, according to a Monday news release.

Netlist filed a complaint at the agency on Sept. 30 alleging infringement by Samsung-made DDR5 memory modules and high-bandwidth memory—and servers and computing systems sold by Google and Super Micro that incorporate them.
