Netflix’s ‘Rez Ball’ Copied Montana Writer’s Script, Suit Says

Netflix Inc.'s 2024 film “Rez Ball” copied “a striking and substantial amount” of a movie written by a Montana-based filmmaker and screenwriter, according to a federal copyright lawsuit.

Rob Gabrow sent a copy of his script for a movie called “The Gift of the Game” about “a mixed-race high school basketball team’s push to make the state tournament” to filmmakers and directors in professional circles of the creators of “Rez Ball,” according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
