Netflix Wipes Out One of Five Broadcom Unit Streaming Patents

Netflix Inc. knocked out a patent Wednesday belonging to Broadcom unit CA Inc. and part of a CA infringement lawsuit against the streaming giant.

The battle between Broadcom and Netflix ensued in 2020 when Broadcom initially sued Netflix after it allegedly refused to agree to a licensing deal for a family of streaming patents. That suit involved 12 patents.

Then Broadcom’s CA and Avago Technologies units sued the next year alleging Netflix infringed the five additional patents related to video streaming technology—US Patent Nos. 7,103,794; 8,656,419 ; 8,646,014; 9,402,098; and 10,911,938.
