Netflix War for Patent Suit Funder’s Records Turns ‘Ugly, Nasty’

A litigation funder has “not complied” with obligations to give Netflix Inc. records linked to a California patent suit where the streamer seeks attorneys’ fees, said a federal judge in Virginia on Friday.

Judge Leonie Brinkema expressed skepticism during a hearing that documents in AiPi LLC’s possession are privileged, as the funder previously contended, and frustration with its overall production of the records, more than a year after Netflix sent its first subpoena attempt.
