Netflix Sued Over ‘Ace Ventura’ Clips in ‘Tiger King’ Episode

The production company behind “Ace Ventura 2" is accusing Netflix Inc. of copyright infringement over the use of clips without permission in California federal court.

“Tiger King,” which chronicled Joe Exotic’s private big-cat zoo in Oklahoma and his murder-for-hire scheme against a rival owner, features two clips from the 1995 film “Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls,” adding to about five seconds of screen time. Morgan Creek Productions Inc. alleges that the use infringes their copyright to the film, according to a complaint filed Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
