Netflix Sued for Profits by VideoLabs on Streaming Tech Patents

VideoLabs Inc., an industry-sponsored platform for acquiring and holding valuable patents, sued Netflix Inc. seeking royalties and the profits it made through alleged infringement of three streaming-video technology patents.

“After many months of ignoring VideoLabs’ entreaties” to discuss licensing its video technology patents, Netflix “finally responded” but insisted “that VideoLabs agree not to enforce its patent rights against Netflix for an indefinite period of time,” according to a 70-page complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
