Netflix Sherlock Holmes’ Sister Movie Faces Copyright Suit (1)

Netflix Inc. faces copyright infringement allegations from Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s estate over a forthcoming movie about the fictional detective younger sister.

The movie based on Nancy Springer’s “Enola Holmes Mysteries” novels copies aspects of Doyle’s books that aren’t in the public domain, the Conan Doyle Estate Ltd. alleged Tuesday in a U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico complaint.

The complaint names Springer, her books’ publisher, Penguin Random House LLC, and Netflix, which is slated to release “Enola Holmes” later this year.
