Netflix Moves to Quash ‘Squid Game’ Suit From Bollywood Director

Netflix Inc. and the writer of the hit Korean drama “Squid Game” asked a federal judge to toss a lawsuit from an Indian director, arguing he doesn’t provide enough evidence to substantiate his copyright infringement allegations.

Sonam Shah, director and writer of the 2009 Bollywood action movie “Luck,” isn’t the copyright owner of the film and should have his suit axed because the two works aren’t similar, according to the motion to dismiss filed by Netflix on Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
