An independent filmmaker will get another chance to assert copyright claims against Netflix Inc. and Luminant Media Inc. over an Emmy-nominated documentary about alleged sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts of America.
The Netflix film, “Scout’s Honor: The Secret Files of the Boy Scouts of America,” was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Investigative Documentary category in 2024.
B. Nagel Films LLC alleged, in an amended complaint filed in late October, that the companies copied a slew of elements from its film investigating childhood sexual abuse claims asserted against the Boy Scouts of America in the Netflix-exclusive documentary.
