Nespresso Sues Peet’s Coffee Over Espresso Pod Trade Dress

Nespresso USA Inc. sued Peet’s Coffee Inc. for allegedly selling an espresso pod that infringes the company’s trademarks and trade dress in Manhattan federal court Thursday.

The lawsuit marks the latest legal battle in the market for single-serving capsules used in coffee machines. Nespresso, which creates both coffee machines and espresso pods, filed a similar suit against Jones Brothers Coffee Co. in 2019, and Keurig Green Mountain Inc. has also brought legal action to enforce its capsule brand.
