NEC Corp Unit in Settlement Talks Over Network Phone Patent Suit

NEC Corp.’s American unit is settling a lawsuit alleging it infringed multiple patents concerning data network phone services through its business products.

NEC Corporation of America and plaintiff Estech Systems IP LLC asked the court Wednesday to pause proceedings so that they can finalize an agreement, according to a joint motion filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The companies said they need 60 days to finalize the agreement because it involves foreign entities. NEC’s parent company is based in Japan.
