NCAA Sues DraftKings Over March Madness, Final Four Marks (1)

The NCAA accused DraftKings Inc. of infringing several trademarks related to its annual college basketball tournaments including “March Madness” and “Final Four,” in a bid by the sports body to distance itself from gambling.

Bets on individual player outcomes—called prop bets—"are particularly harmful,” as they put direct financial stakes on student-athletes and increase their exposure to harassment, the NCAA said in its complaint filed March 20 in the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. It requested a preliminary injunction banning DraftKings from using the marks for the duration of the suit.
