NBA’s Giannis Antetokounmpo Files ‘Greek Freak’ Trademark Suit

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo sued an online retailer Aug. 7 for allegedly infringing his “Greek Freak” trademark.

The Athens-born Antetokounmpo accused Mark Barnett and his clothing website, Zkiu Club, of violating the Lanham Act and diluting his trademark by selling T-shirts and other merchandise featuring the NBA star’s moniker.

Antetokounmpo registered the trademark for “Greek Freak” in multiple classes spanning backpacks, sports jerseys, T-shirts and other clothing, according to the complaint.

Zkiu Club was sent a cease and desist letter, but didn’t respond with a record detailing its profits from sales of “Greek Freak"-branded products, according to the complaint. ...
