NBA Star Wembanyama Sues ‘El Wemby’ Retailer Over NIL Misuse (1)

San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing an online retailer of unauthorized use of his name, image, and likeness to sell shirts, magnets, and other merchandise bearing an “El Wemby” slogan.

James Glodich continued to sell the merchandise despite three cease and desist letters from Wembanyama’s counsel and the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s refusal to register Glodrich’s applications for “El Wemby” and “Wemby’s World” trademarks, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
